Little Learners Academy is a new small, high-quality preschool in Chicago designed for children ages 3-5, with a maximum of 20 children at a time. We are seeking a Director-Certified Assistant Director who meets all DCFS licensing requirements to support the daily operations of our preschool. This role is ideal for an individual with early childhood education experience, strong leadership skills, and a passion for fostering a positive learning environment.
Job Responsibilities:Leadership & Administration
- Assist the Director in overseeing the daily operations of the preschool, ensuring compliance with DCFS licensing regulations and safety standards.
- Serve as a point of contact for staff, parents, and children, ensuring smooth communication and resolving concerns professionally.
- Support the enrollment process, including giving tours, onboarding new families, and maintaining student records.
- Help manage scheduling, staffing, and teacher support to maintain a high-quality classroom environment.
- Assist with billing, attendance tracking, and record-keeping using our management system (Playground).
Curriculum & Staff Support
- Support teachers in implementing lesson plans that align with the preschool’s educational philosophy.
- Assist in planning and organizing special events and family engagement activities.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to teachers and assistants.
Health & Safety
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment that meets all health and safety standards.
- Monitor classroom and playground area for compliance with DCFS licensing requirements.
- Assist in emergency preparedness drills and ensure staff training is up to date.
- Must be CPR & First Aid Certified and ensure staff training is up to date.
Parent & Community Engagement
- Maintain positive relationships with families, addressing concerns and fostering open communication.
- Assist with parent newsletters, progress reports, and organizing parent-teacher meetings.
- Promote a welcoming atmosphere and uphold the preschool’s values of respect, kindness, and integrity.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must be Director Certified and meet all DCFS licensing requirements for a director.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a preschool, childcare center, or early childhood setting.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children (3-5 years old).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and childcare management software (Playground experience is a plus).
- Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and adapt to the needs of the school.
- Must be CPR & First Aid Certified (or willing to obtain prior to start).
- Must pass background checks, drug test and meet all DCFS requirements.
