Pharmacy Technician
JOB SUMMARY:
The Pharmacy Technician will work under the direct supervision of the Center’s Pharmacists and Pharmacy Director and will assist in the daily operations of the Pharmacy Department. This employee will be assigned a primary in-house pharmacy location to work at to fulfill the hours that are dedicated to work as a pharmacy technician within the Center; however, from time to time it may be necessary for the employee to work at another in-house pharmacy location to help cover pharmacy operations in the event of planned or unplanned absences of other pharmacy staff members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, however are not limited to:
- Must be able to perform pharmacy-related functions, generally working under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
- Having excellent communication skills to work professionally and amicably with patients and fellow employees while performing pharmacy technician duties.
- Being computer literate and can learn software programs that are essential to performing pharmacy technician duties.
- Being able to execute the duties required of being a pharmacy technician at prescription drop off, production, and pick-up.
- Tasks such as receiving and translating prescription orders given to patients from prescribing practitioners, producing those prescription orders, and ultimately distributing those prescription orders to patients at the point of delivery.
- Assisting in preparing prescription orders.
- Pharmacy Technicians should be able to effectively communicate and deliver accurate information to patients, other Pharmacy team members and Medical Staff personnel involved in the patient’s care.
- Checking the pharmacy inventory for outdated medications.
- Unpacking/Checking orders received from the drug wholesaler to accuracy.
- Generating and submitting replenishment orders of drugs and devices to the wholesaler.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Participating in in-service trainings, staff meetings and continuing education as required.
- The Pharmacy Technicians must be able to meet the physical demands of the job and have excellent attendance; work locations and hours may vary.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Must possess SC Pharmacy Technician license and be in good standing with the SC Pharmacy Board. (South Carolina State Certified Technician License preferred).
- Experience in the role of being a pharmacy technician in a retail/hospital pharmacy setting is preferred but not required.
