POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for proactive maintenance of our SCADA system and PLCs. Collaborate with the Facility Asset Managers to provide preventative and proactive maintenance programs to identify and resolve reliability issues. This role requires auditing all facility processes for optimum maintenance performance. This position is responsible for in-house and contract work when managing the installation and maintenance of all SCADA related systems at the three treatment facilities, thirty-four pump stations, and each of the 31 buildings that make up the complexesPRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
  • Evaluate, prioritize, and schedule work orders and/or other maintenance activities, developing safe work methods for providing facility maintenance procedures, services, and repairs.
  • Provide feedback on Root Cause Failure Analysis efforts collecting data, meet with supervisor, relevant team members to define actions to eliminate recurring problems.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for facility maintenance activities to ensure that Proactive Maintenance is performed as scheduled.
  • Maintains all SCADA system components.
    • Designs and maintains PLC ladder logic.
    • Maintains electrical schematics and blueprints.
    • Responsible for maintaining licenses and procurement of required hardware.
  • Review contract specifications and provide professional recommendations as needed on all Instrumentation projects as needed.
  • Provide research documentation and written specifications for the purchase of equipment and/or material in support of maintenance activities.
  • Participate in project design meetings, review project specifications, and provide professional recommendations of all components to be utilized in all projects to ensure the longevity of the equipment for the utility.
  • Interacts and negotiates with vendors and contractors to secure products and services.
  • Provide a yearly budget, working within those budgetary limits, and the ability to forecast budgetary needs for the next 5 – 10 years.
  • Utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as a primary tool of the maintenance process.
  • Continually keep abreast of latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in E&I engineering and incorporate this knowledge into your work.
  • Follows established work procedures and safety practices and guidelines.
  • Undertakes any reasonable request within capabilities that is good for the community and the utility.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Required:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5-years progressive experience in electronic equipment repairs, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 
  • Must have a means of communication 24/7 for possible emergency situations.
  • Must be able to remotely assist users from locations other than primary work location.
  • Maintain a home-based high-speed internet connection in support of company business.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Class I Arkansas Wastewater Operators License within 1 year.
  • Knowledge of desktop/laptop hardware and software operating systems.
  • Knowledge of standard terms, practices, test equipment, and methods in the electronic trade.
  • Knowledge of principles of electronic equipment installation methods, operations, and testing.
  • Knowledge of national and local electrical codes, electrical circuits, and motor controls. 
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, schematic manuals, and blueprints of electronic equipment installations.
  • Ability to design and maintain PLC programs and HMI screens.
  • Ability to design, build and maintain control panels for automating equipment.
  • Ability to plan and schedule tasks.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise reports.
  • Ability to document programs and procedures.
  • Ability to plan and schedule projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently to push for results, is highly motivated, self-confident, and initiate support on several levels to get the job done.
  • Strong analytical skills - using tools for Analyzing and Solving Problems (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and Root Cause Analysis).
  • Ability to communicate complex instructions to instrumentation crews either written or verbal.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain a valid Arkansas driver’s license. 
Preferred:
  • Journeyman or Master’s Electrical License.
  • Programming certification with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley automation software.
  • Degree or certification from an electronics school or formalized training program.
  • Experience in building control panels. 
  • Experience with the reading of electrical schematics.
  • Experience with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), National Electrical Code (NEC), and the design of E&I systems.
  • Experience understanding relay logic.
  • Ability to write and edit programs in Visual Basic, Ladder Logic and Function Block.
  • Knowledge of networking standards and best practice cyber security principles.
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System best practices and procedures.
