Position Overview
The Educational Director is responsible for overseeing the academic and operational aspects of the school, ensuring compliance with all regulations, and maintaining a high standard of educational excellence. This leadership role requires a dynamic, organized, and passionate individual with experience in early childhood education and program administration.
Key Responsibilities
Educational Leadership & Curriculum Development
- Oversee and enhance the implementation of a high-quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with state standards.
- Support teachers in curriculum planning, lesson execution, and classroom management.
- Ensure classrooms provide a nurturing and engaging environment for young learners.
- Monitor student progress and support individualized learning plans when needed.
- Stay updated with best practices in early childhood education and integrate innovative teaching methods.
Staff Management & Professional Development
- Recruit, train, and mentor teaching staff, ensuring they meet educational and licensing standards.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to educators.
- Organize and lead professional development opportunities for staff.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and growth-oriented workplace culture.
Regulatory Compliance & Licensing
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including DOH and DOE guidelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation for staff and student records, lesson plans, and licensing requirements.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure safety, health, and educational standards are met.
Family & Community Engagement
- Serve as the main point of contact for parents regarding academic programs and student progress.
- Organize parent-teacher conferences, open houses, and community engagement events.
- Address and resolve concerns from parents while maintaining a strong school-family relationship.
- Represent the school in local educational and networking events.
Operations & Administrative Duties
- Work alongside the administrative team to manage enrollment, scheduling, and staffing needs.
- Develop policies and procedures that align with the school’s vision and mission.
- Assist in budget planning for educational materials and professional development resources.
- Oversee assessments, evaluations, and reporting of student progress.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- NYS Education Director Certification (preferred or required per regulations).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in early childhood education, with leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood pedagogy, curriculum frameworks, and child development.
- Experience managing and mentoring teaching staff.
- Familiarity with NYC DOE and DOH licensing requirements.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
