What are the responsibilities and job description for the Site Supervisor position at Little Sprouts Day Care Inc?
Job Summary:
The Site Supervisor will assist in the coordination of the daily operations of Little Sprouts Day Care Centers. This role will enforce regulations under the Child Care Program guidelines, and implement and maintain an appropriate learning environment for the children. The Site Supervisor will work with the Assistant Directors and Director of Operations to establish classroom policies and procedures for children’s development and safety and ensure the Centers maintain proper license requirements and implement State regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Implements State Licensing regulations for the Day Care Center.
- Handles State Licensing officials as first point of contact in the event that the Assistant Director or Director of Operations is not onsite.
- Ensures the Day Care Center, rooms and play areas are maintained in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
- Trains staff on child food allergies and how to accommodate children with allergies.
- Maintains appropriate staff level to accommodate children enrolled in the program in accordance with regulations.
- Provides information to parents concerning their children’s development, abilities, and areas of concern; explains program procedures and classroom activities as requested.
- Monitors teachers to ensure quality of teaching methods and support for program goals.
- Reports incidents of suspected child abuse to proper authorities.
- Works in classrooms as a teacher on an as needed basis.
- Handles emergencies and incidents; ensures everything is properly documented.
- Ensures everything is properly logged on Brightwheel in all rooms, and checks that all messages are responded to in a timely manner.
- Checks that diaper reminders are properly set in all rooms.
- Handles administration of medication, making sure children receive the proper dose at the correct time.
- Manages difficult conversations with parents when necessary.
- Assists the Assistant Director with filing paperwork, and ensures children’s file are up-to-date.
Required Experience, Education, & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field preferred.
- 12 ECE/ CD units and 3 units in administration/ staff relations
- 6 months - 1 years of experience working in a child care setting
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role in a childcare or educational setting preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with staff, parents, and children.
- Proficiency in Google Drive and childcare management software.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and licensing requirements (or willingness to learn).

Little Sprouts was founded in 2019 in San Luis Obispo, California, and opened another location in Avila, California in 2021. We will also be opening a preschool in Spring 2024. We believe that young children will develop a love for learning if taught through play in a nurturing, positive and secure environment. We dedicate our time to help children build their independence by providing a safe place they can explore, create, and learn.
Our Infant and Toddler Child Care program provides age appropriate activities that meet the developmental needs of each individual child in our care. Our learning environment promotes social & emotional development, as well as physical development.
