Job Summary
The Lead Teacher will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of children in the daycare setting, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment. This role involves developing and implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, collaborating with a team of other teachers and assistant teachers, and working closely with parents to support the developmental needs of children. The Lead Teacher will play an essential role in shaping a positive and stimulating atmosphere for young children.
Duties
- Plan, implement, and assess age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
- Foster an environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and a love for learning.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care by adhering to safety policies and maintaining a clean and hazard-free environment.
- Respond appropriately to children’s physical and emotional needs and be vigilant about identifying potential concerns or risks.
- Stay current with early childhood education trends and best practices through ongoing professional development.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and relevant educational workshops.
- Foster an environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and a love for learning.
- Lead a classroom of (specific age group) and ensure a safe, organized, and engaging environment.
- Ensure that all classroom materials and resources are well-maintained and that the space is conducive to learning.
- Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and other classroom staff, providing guidance on child development and classroom management techniques.
- Offer positive discipline strategies and support the behavioral and emotional development of each child.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s progress, milestones, and any concerns.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- 240 hours of experience as an assistant childcare teacher.
- Possess infant/toddler and Introduction to Child Care Profession credential (or willing to complete upon hire).
- Experience working in a childcare or educational setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles is a plus.
- Strong classroom management skills to create an engaging learning atmosphere.
- A passion for fostering a love of learning in young children through creative teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and staff.
