FCC Assistant (Family Child Care program)
Location:Angelina Preschool (Temple-Beaudry area of Echo Park, 2 miles west of Downtown Los Angeles)
Compensation:$20 - $25/hour;DOE
Employment Status:Full-time; Non-exempt position with benefits.

Background:For over 40 years, Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) has provided a safety net of social welfare and community development services to empower people and communities in need. LTSC provides culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the Japanese American community in the Southland, builds multi-family affordable housing projects to uplift low-income neighborhoods of color throughout Los Angeles, and promotes equitable development and cultural preservation in the Little Tokyo neighborhood.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. Summary of Duties:
The FCC (Family Child Care) Assistant will support Angelina Preschools mission of providing a safe and educational space for the children and families we serve. This position will report to the Site Director. FCCs and Angelina Preschool are full-day, year round state sponsored preschool and early education centers located throughout Koreatown, Echo Park, and the Downtown neighborhoods of Los Angeles.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist with enrollment, intake, parent, and FCC provider communications
- Maintain and update administrative and family files
- Monthly FCC Provider monitoring visits for assigned providers, more as needed
- Review and monitor annual Action Plans for FCC providers assigned
- Serve as substitute carrying out classroom routines as needed to maintain ratios
- Assists and support teacher aides and volunteers
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings
- Monthly and quarterly parent newsletters
- Collaborate with office staff to compile community resources and information
- Any other assignments as necessary
Additional Duties
- Available some nights and weekends for FCC Provider training throughout the year
- Presentations for FCC providers according to their needs from annual assessments
Required Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
- Reliable method of transportation, with drivers license and insurance (mileage is reimbursed)
- Experience collaborating across teams
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Proficient in Microsoft word programs
- Ability to work in ever-changing environment, always prioritizing our mission of Children First
Additional, Preferred Qualifications
- Experience enrolling families in state sponsored programs
- Experience conducting DRDPs and FCCERS
- Experience in an early education/child development environment
- Knowledge of state databases and reporting platforms
Education
- At least 24 Early Childhood Education credits, with at least 1 Infant/Toddler focused class
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
Equivalent education or experience can be substituted for all minimum qualifications, except when legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration, are required.
LTSC requires all Child Development Department employees to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
