What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Coastal Engineer/Project Manager position at Littoral Services, LLC?
Purpose & Summary
This position is unique because of the structure and size of our company. Littoral Services provides both professional and construction services in the marine environment. As a result, this position will require this employee to flex between our construction and professional service teams. It is a core belief of the leadership that to provide high level professional services it is important to understand how things are built and how these structures interact with the natural environment over time. Candidate(s) will have significant exposure to growth and opportunity due to our company's size. One day you could be working on a proposal in pursuit of a project we're bidding, the next day you may be in the field supporting our construction team, the next working at our wetland plant nursery in Marblehead, and the following day working on the development of design plans for a project. Silos and billable ratios do not exist within our small, family-oriented company!
Duties & Responsibilities
1) Prepare plans, designs, calculations, and cost estimates.
2) Review and prepare technical specifications, engineering reports, regulatory applications and other technical
documents.
3) Perform construction inspections and provide owner's representation services on projects where Littoral is
contracted to oversee work in the marine/maritime environments.
4) Ability to cross support field construction crews with maritime based construction operations on an as needed
basis in an all-hands-on-deck approach.
5) Prepare construction project deliverables including work plans, submittal packages, RFI's, daily reports, and
assist with project management activities.
6) Support the tracking of prospective work, preparation of proposals/estimates, and aid in marketing.
7) Conduct field work including site inspections, surveys, and construction observations/reporting.
8) Prepare and present technical content to clients and the public.
9) Prepare and submit regulatory permit applications.
10) Interact with clients and regulatory agencies.
Core Competencies & Qualifications
AutoCAD & Microsoft Office
Strong GIS and mapping skills
Familiarity with alternative contract delivery methods and trends including design-build, design/bid/build, CMAR, etc...
Self-motivated, strong organizational, problem solving, and time management skills.
Survey and project location control fundamentals.
Marine experience preferred
Strong leadership, written, and communication skills.
Ability to communicate and discuss technical content and topics with technical and non-technical clients and the public.
Willingness to accept new challenges and carry a diversified work load.
Passion to support the growth of the organization
Bachelor's Degree from ABET accredited school in coastal, ocean, civil, structural, or geotechnical engineering. Other majors may be considered if the candidate has relevant experience.
2-5 years of relevant professional experience
Thorough understanding of federal and regulatory requirements of advancing work in the coastal environment in Ohio.
United States citizenship or current ability to work in the USA.

While the position is Full-Time, Littoral Services will consider part-time or alternate work schedules for highly qualified candidates looking for work-life balance opportunities.
Work from home or remote with travel as required to meet the needs of field projects and travel to the office currently located in Marblehead as needed for meetings, training, and special events.
Vacation/Sick Time/Weekly Billable hours will not be tracked unless required by contract with a specific client.
