SUMMARY: The LIUNA National Pension & Retirement Fund office is seeking a Pension Associate to support the daily operation of 3 Benefits Funds administered at the National Fund Office in Washington, D.C. This position reports directly to the Benefits Manager of the Pension Department. The ideal candidate can multitask, is focused and detail-oriented, and operates at the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards. Ability to speak, interpret and translate Spanish is preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Assist members in completing pension applications and verifying documentation.
- Serve as a point of contact for pension inquiries and application status updates.
- Maintain accurate records of pension applications and related documents.
- Support pension benefit calculations and verify service credits.
- Enter and update member data in the pension fund management system.
- Track application progress and follow up on missing information.
- Communicate professionally with team members, employers, and union representatives.
- Assist with office tasks, including mail processing, filing, and telephone support.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Minimum of two (2) years of office environment experience required (education can be substituted for experience - see Education section below)
- Ability to express self clearly and have a strong aptitude for detail. Good logic is a must. Ability to speak, interpret and translate Spanish is preferred
- Basic computer and typing skills and proficient use of Word and other Microsoft computer programs. Must become knowledgeable of pension software used for Plan Participants.
- Must be dependable and have a strong ability to carry out a variety of tasks, when presented, on a timely basis.
- Good attendance is a must.
- Professional and Business telephone etiquette.
- Must have a strong ability to follow instructions and work on non-supervised tasks.
- Must have a high degree of accuracy in performing both supervised and non-supervised tasks.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- 2-year college degree is required, or alternatively, 2 years of office experience can be substituted for the education requirement
