The Role
We are seeking Omakase Servers who are passionate about hospitality, meticulous in detail, and dedicated to curating an unforgettable dining experience. In this role, you’ll be the bridge between our chefs and our guests, guiding them through a multi-course tasting menu with warmth, knowledge, and genuine enthusiasm.
Guest Experience & Service Excellence
- Provide a personalized and engaging service experience, guiding guests through the multi-course Omakase menu with knowledge and enthusiasm.
- Educate guests on ingredients, preparation techniques, and cultural significance of each dish.
- Recommend and serve sake, wine, and beverage pairings, demonstrating expertise in flavor profiles and complementing the dining experience.
- Anticipate guest needs, accommodate special requests, and ensure dietary restrictions are communicated effectively to the culinary team.
- Maintain a calm, professional demeanor in an intimate dining setting, ensuring seamless pacing and execution.
- Work in synchronization with the sushi chef and culinary team to ensure precise timing of each course.
- Perform detailed mise en place before and after service, including polishing glassware, setting the Omakase counter, and maintaining impeccable organization.
- Master traditional Japanese service techniques, etiquette, and presentation standards.
- Ensure that all service tools, dishware, and beverage accompaniments are prepared and maintained to the highest standard.
- Uphold all health, safety, and sanitation protocols in accordance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Partner with chefs, sommeliers, and beverage specialists to enhance pairings and refine the overall experience.
- Stay updated on Japanese culinary traditions, sake brewing techniques, and seasonal menu changes.
- Participate in ongoing training, tastings, and service workshops to maintain expertise and uphold Living Room’s standards.
The Ideal Candidate
- A passion for delivering exceptional hospitality experiences and ensuring guests feel valued and well-cared for during their visit.
- An understanding of restaurant operations, including menu items, specials, steps of service, to provide informed recommendations and assistance to members.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with members courteously, answer their questions, and address any concerns promptly.
- The ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy shifts, multitask effectively, and maintain a positive attitude even in challenging situations.
- Experience in the restaurant industry, preferably as a server, with knowledge of point-of-sale systems, order taking, and food and beverage service, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable dining experience for guests.
- 2 years of fine dining, Omakase, or Japanese cuisine service experience.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, sushi, sake, and beverage pairings (sake certification is a plus).
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to engage guests in an educational yet approachable manner.
- Ability to manage an intimate dining experience, ensuring seamless coordination between guests, kitchen, and beverage service.
- High level of attention to detail, professionalism, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- A passion for hospitality, cultural appreciation, and delivering memorable, high-touch service experiences.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments and maintain calm, through quickly and effectively problem solving under pressure
- Must be hospitable, approachable, passionate about customer service and respectful towards colleagues and guests
- Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Ability to take direction, work in a team environment and autonomously
