Job Title: Lead Referral Specialist
Position Overview: We are seeking a bilingual (English and Spanish) Lead Referral Specialist from within our team. In this role, you will oversee and manage the referral process, ensuring seamless communication and coordination between our patients and other healthcare providers. This position requires strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and a deep commitment to patient care.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage incoming and outgoing patient referrals, coordinating with internal and external healthcare providers.
- Ensure a comprehensive understanding of insurances, payers, and payer information.
- Maintain and update patient referral records in our EMR system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Serve as the primary liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to coordinate care and confirm coverage.
- Monitor and track referral processes, ensuring timely follow-up with healthcare providers and patients to complete healthcare services.
- Communicate with patients regarding their referral status, answering questions, and providing necessary support.
- Educate patients on the referral process, helping them understand their care plan.
- Lead and collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to optimize the referral process, contributing to patient satisfaction and care quality.
- Mentor and guide junior staff members involved in the referral process, ensuring adherence to best practices.
Education:
- High School Graduate or equivalent required. Associate's Degree preferred.
Prior Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a healthcare setting, with at least one (1) year in a lead or supervisory role, preferably handling referrals.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare insurance practices.
Skills:
- Bilingual, proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with EMR systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proven problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
