Job Description
The LWCC Security Officer has many assorted duties, some occurring daily and some occurring less frequently. LWCC Security Department will be in uniform and armed at all times while performing duties and/or conducting business for Living Word Christian Center as approved by the Department Head or his designee.
Primary Responsibilities
- Providing security protection for church visitors, members, guest ministers, staff personnel and other visiting dignitaries.
- Conducts mobile/foot patrols, facility walkthrough checks, secures doors, crowd control & confrontation management.
- Completes various reports.
- Monitors and responds to intrusion, panic and fire alarms.
- Contacts law enforcement, fire, and ambulatory services as needed
- Renders First Aid, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) services during medical emergencies. Assists First Responders as needed.
- Provides escorting of funds within the facility and with armored car services.
- Investigates incidents, and conducts surveillance of suspicious individuals.
- Monitors CCTV/DVR surveillance systems. Dispatches other Officers as needed.
- Monitors local weather via NOAA Radio and other weather reporting services. Initiates steps in protecting people on the property pending severe weather.
- Conducts the generator start up procedures when auxiliary power is needed during severe weather situations.
- This position includes providing protection and security services to Maranatha Christian Academy activities during the evening and special events throughout the building.
Qualifications
- Meet and pass all requirements set forth by State Statute for purchasing and possessing a firearm. This requirement will resolve criminal history and mental health issues, whereas many background checks only check criminal records within the state.
- Complete a criminal history and records check as conducted by LWCC Human Resources for other employees and volunteers.
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Although not required, previous experience in Military, Corrections, Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Suppression or Private Security professions – or equivalent is a benefit.
- Successfully complete the approved and applicable training.
- Maintain standards of exceptional honesty, character and integrity.
- Although not mandatory - preferable educational considerations are education or training in Criminal Justice or related fields; Law, Psychology, Emergency Medical Training, Forensic Science, Homeland Security, Social Work, Human Services.
- Align with Living Word’s Statement of Faith.
