POSITION PURPOSE
The Livingston Educational Service Agency is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Communication Specialist to support our communication efforts and work closely with the Communication Committee and Communication Consultant. This role will focus on advancing objectives outlined in our communication plan, while ensuring seamless collaboration with various departments across the organization. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for updating and maintaining our social media platforms and website content.
The successful candidate will have unquestioned ethics and integrity and will exemplify an innovative spirit focused on finding a way to say “yes” rather than “no”.

Collaborate with Communication Committee and Consultant:- Work directly with the Communication Committee to ensure alignment with overall communication goals.
- Collaborate with a Communication Consultant to help implement and execute strategies and campaigns.
- Provide insights and suggestions to improve communication efforts across internal and external channels.
- Cross-departmental Coordination:
- Coordinate and collaborate with various internal departments to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Assist in creating content that supports department initiatives and broader communication goals.
- Social Media Management:
- Develop, schedule, and post content across the organization’s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.).
- Monitor and engage with social media audiences, ensuring timely responses to inquiries and comments.
- Analyze social media metrics to track engagement, effectiveness, and areas for improvement.
- Website Content Management:
- Regularly update website content to ensure it is accurate, current, and relevant to the target audience.
- Work with the Communication Consultant team to optimize content and ensure alignment with communication strategies.
- Ensure that all website content follows brand guidelines and maintains a consistent tone.
- Content Creation and Editing:
- Assist in the development and editing of various communication materials, including newsletters, blog posts, press releases, and other external communications.
- Ensure all materials reflect the organization’s brand and voice.
- Tracking and Reporting:
- Monitor the performance of communication activities, particularly on digital platforms.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Maintain own personal competence through participation in LESA, regional, or state sponsored in-service activities for the purpose of ensuring the effectiveness of communication
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Experience in K-12 communications and/or public relations
- An understanding for and an appreciation for the purpose, role, and function of an Educational Service
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent listening, writing, grammar, and editing
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written
- Knowledge of communication and marketing techniques, including print, video, web, marketing and public information strategies, and the ability to develop effective plans utilizing all aspects of a strong communications program.
- Proficiency in the use of various social media platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, ).
- Experience with website
- Experience creating and dispensing content, via media outlets, web communications, and social media
- Marketing and/or graphic design skills; preferably
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and the
- Ability and willingness to work under pressure and under tight timelines as well as during emergency situations, and the ability to provide calm interface with internal and external audiences during critical
- Ability to effectively present information, listen, and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, students, parents, and the general
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, such as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
