General Responsibilities:
- Perform multiple field efforts including Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments (ESAs) in compliance with ASTM Standards, multi-media environmental sampling, oil/gas well locating, supervision of site remediation activities, and general data collection/documentation.
- Analyze, interpret, and present results from field/site assessment data.
- Prepare and/or review Phase I and Phase II ESA reports, as well as other technical reports.
- Draft budgets, proposals, and change orders; manage budgets, complete bill reviews, and approve invoices for respective projects.
- Communicate with clients regarding project status and schedules.
- Manage, procure, and negotiate with subcontractors and vendors.
- Perform basic mapping assistance utilizing ArcGIS software.
- Participate in internal department meetings and client meetings.
- Operate mechanical field equipment such as field trucks and 4-wheel drive all-terrain vehicles (ATV/UTV).
Required Qualifications:
- BS or MS degree in geology, natural sciences, or closely related field.
- Professional Geoscientist licensed in the State of Texas is required.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Training Certificate.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Required Experience:
- Strong background providing environmental consulting services in residential development and commercial/industrial sectors, and/or state and local government agencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work effectively in a group setting and manage junior staff.
- Able to meet time sensitive deadlines and to multitask between ongoing projects.
- Familiarity with GPS devices and digital data collection.
- Familiarity with Texas Risk Reduction Program rules.
- Ability to represent LJA and its clients in a professional manner.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe.
- 5 years of relevant experience with site assessments, site inspections, and remediation projects.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to drive long distances, to and from potential job sites primarily within the Texas region including Austin, Beaumont, Corpus Christi, Dallas/Ft Worth, Freeport.
- Inspection sites may be physically demanding and typically involve standing for extended periods or hiking/walking for extended distances, bending/lifting/climbing, rugged terrain, dense vegetation, or remote locations.
- Work in inclement weather (hot/cold/rain).
- Work non-standard hours/days, including occasional weekend or holiday work.
Salary Range: Commensurate with relevant years of experience.
