SUMMARY

This position coordinates the design work for a project by applying engineering fundamentals under the direct supervision of the Project Manager.                        

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE

Our exciting and entrepreneurial culture will require you to think creatively, solve problems and meet the needs of our clients daily. A typical day might include the following:

• Preparing estimates of probable construction cost.
• Understanding standard construction materials and choosing appropriate specifications.
• Understanding storm design and its hydraulic components and ability to apply different criteria.
• Generating earthwork calculations considering stripping and compaction factors.
• Being familiar with Agency Submittals/Approvals as it applies to the project.
• Using general mathematical skills to manipulate standard design formulas.
• Interacting with outside agencies and project team members.
• Carrying out assigned duties as required.

“MUST HAVE” QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of high school or technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of extensive drafting and engineering technician experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for detailed civil site design/land development.
• Proficiency in site geometric design, grading design, drainage design and utility design.
• Effective communication skills both oral and written.
• Effective interpersonal skills with coworkers and public agency officials.
• Ability to build strong relationships.
• Ability to be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs.

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE

• Proficiency in the use of 3DS Max, SketchUp and/or ArcGIS.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, WaterCAD, SewerCAD, StormCAD, ICPR, HEC-RAS and other engineering design software.

• Experience with MicroStation ORD.
• Previous work experience in an AEC related firm.
