Summary: We currently have an opening on the Energy team as a Sr. Project Engineer. LJA seeks a discipline lead with 4 or more years of experience in managing civil/structural engineering projects, preferably in the oil and gas sector.

General Responsibilities:
- This role will be responsible for discovering, bidding and executing projects across the spectrum of midstream installations. This includes experience providing clients with bid phase assistance, responding to RFIs, and technical construction management.
- Responsible for projects from initial concept development through engineering package distribution, as well as during the construction phase. Items include the review and written responses to shop drawing submittals, requests for information, change proposal requests, preparation of record drawings, attendance at meeting, site inspections, preparation of punch lists, etc.
- The project manager will be responsible for delegating design and drafting needs accordingly to team members as well as being engineer of record on direct projects by affixing PE stamp and signature.
- Participate in project front-end planning, and development of project-specific technical design basis manual. Identify discipline deliverables, level of detail required, and drawings. Interface with Project Management and Client in establishing project design criteria and discipline specific design philosophy
- Coordinate, supervise and monitor job progress for civil/structural work activities, set priorities and adjust workload accordingly
- Thorough understanding of ACI 318, ASCE 7, ACI, and the AISC Steel Construction Manual
- Good working knowledge of applicable OSHA regulations and standards, API recommended practices and standards, and applicable ASTM codes and standards
- Proficient at preparation of structural calculations (utilizing computer programs, as well as by hand) for concrete and steel structures such as equipment and building foundations, pipe and cable tray supports foundations, equipment support structures, access platforms, pipe and cable tray supports
- Excellent knowledge of geotechnical engineering. Capable of reading and interpreting a geotechnical investigation report to assess recommendations and determine best foundation type for a project
- Proficient at development of civil site requirements such as site layout, grading, drainage, and paving design
- Excellent knowledge of drawing development, presentation, composition and arrangement, scale, orientation, dimensioning, section and details, and other drafting practices applicable to the preparation of civil/structural drawings
- Proficient with vendor drawings. Responsible for redlining vendor information and signing off for completeness
- Proficient at checking a complete civil/structural drawing package including but not limited to site plans, civil details, foundation location plans, and concrete and steel detail drawings, and calculations
- Complete understanding of project specifications related to civil and structural disciplines
- Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering
- Registration as a Licensed PE in State of Texas, additional states preferred.
- 4 or more years of experience in managing civil/structural engineering projects, preferably in the oil and gas sector
- Basic understanding of PIDs/PFDs
- Familiarity with facility site planning
- Excellent knowledge of construction package assembly.
- Strong interpersonal communication, organization and writing skills Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products including Microsoft Project.
