What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at LJT Texas?
SUMMARY: Visual inspection and packaging of secondary steel tubing into cartons and lifts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Reviews shop order packaging instructions and standard packaging charts.
- Visually inspects tubing, packages tubing into carton or skid.
- Verifies finished product tag is attached to end of pallet and stapled tags to each side of completed package.
- Notifies Mills Production Material Handler of any problems.
- Operates overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site.
- Lifts heavy objects with forklift and cleans work area, machines and equipment to assist machine operators.
- Retrieves lift truck/crane with appropriate capacity.
- Configures lift so that tags are facing inside aisle way.
- Ensures forks are under the cardboard and/or paper lining on lift.
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: No prior experience or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situation with only occasional or no variables.
