LMCU is looking for a Mortgage Underwriting Team Lead who will be responsible for assisting with training and mentoring of underwriters for conventional/agency/government/portfolio lending authority. This position requires extensive knowledge of all agency/portfolio loan products.

LMCU is looking for a Mortgage Underwriting Team Lead who will be responsible for assisting with training and mentoring of underwriters for conventional/agency/government/portfolio lending authority. This position requires extensive knowledge of all agency/portfolio loan products.
What you’ll do:
- Provide QC reviews/audits for underwriters at a minimum of one per month. Responsible for managing and reviewing ACES audits; mentoring lower performing underwriters.
- Responsible for reviewing team questions related to loan program guidelines, income calculations, appraisal reviews, policies and procedures and LOS issues.
- Manages and maintains the Appraisal Reconsideration mailbox. Assists with the Underwriting Scenario mailbox and any other mailboxes as needed.
- Conducts training and test cases for new Underwriters as well as contracted Underwriters. In addition, trains established Underwriters on new product types (such as MSHDA, construction, portfolio and/or government products).
- Provides coverage for closing rushes. Provides coverage for department managers and coordinators as needed; carries a small pipeline and provides coverage for other Underwriters as needed.
- Five or more years of relevant experience, including preparatory experience.
- Extensive knowledge in all Conventional Agency and Portfolio Underwriting guidelines, and input of these products.
- Strong strategic and critical thinking skills to evaluate and assess information for risk and provide recommendations.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills. Good general knowledge of all functional areas in the mortgage department.
- Professional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Coaching, training, and development skills to support Mortgage Product Development Analysts.
- Ability to solve problems diplomatically, seeking input from others.
- Ability to work well with others in a non-threatening, open-minded environment.
