Overview
LMI is seeking a Logistics Consultant at Norfolk Navy Shipyard in Portsmouth , VA to support activities related to shipyard modernization as part of an enterprise-wide U.S. Navy strategic modernization and improvement effort. LMI is helping NAVSUP, NAVSEA, and the Naval shipyards use technology to track materiel through the shipyards to address long-standing problems. The Logistics Consultant will support asset tracking, material management, and repair processes, with a focus on implementing and managing RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. This role involves marking / tagging assets, training personnel on RFID tag placement and use, as sisting w ith map ping " as-is " p rocesses , and id entify ing o pportunities to enhance asset tracking efficiency using Naval Autonomous Data Collection System ( NADACS ) technology . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materiel management processes , business process es and workflow analysis , excellent communication skills, and the ability to analyze and engineer lo gistics b usiness processes . Active Secret clearance preferred; only candidates eligible for a Secret level clearance will be considered (US Citizenship re quired ).

Responsibilities
Monitor day-to-day operation s and analyze, report and improve performance metrics.
- Provide on-site material management expertise to d evelop, implement, and maintain asset tracking systems and processes using RFID technology.
- Monitor and analyze asset movements and inventory levels and document and build process to optimize RFID tags and related software systems to improve logistics operations .
- Observe processes and help gather user stories to advance software changes to maximize RFID technology to improve tactical level operations and p rovide actionable improvements based on performance data and feedback .
- Recommend new procedures to inc rease the efficiency of day-to-day operations.
- Assist with the development and deliver y of training material s and programs to enhance workforce skill sets.
- Conduct training sessions for personnel on RFID ta g commissioning , placement, usage, and maintenance.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on operational performance and training effectiveness.
- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Research, recommend, and implement RFID solutions to improve asset tracking and material management.
- Plan and execute RFID tagging projects, ensuring proper tag commissioning , placement and usage. M onitor, evaluate, and capture opportun ities for improvement for asset tracking and material management processes.
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency gains.
- Prepare reports and presentations on project progress, findings, and recommendations.
