CUSTODIAN – MCPS STUDENT WORKERS
PART-TIME, VARIOUS SHIFTS
2024-2025 School Year
Montgomery County Public Schools is accepting applications for student custodian positions that may become available during the 2024-2025 school year. Shifts will vary depending on school needs and the student’s schedule. This posting is open to Montgomery County Public Schools, Virginia high school students only.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The custodian performs routine manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of buildings. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to, dust mopping, sweeping, wet mopping, vacuuming, dusting, waxing, removing trash, cleaning bathrooms, and polishing furniture.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven ability and willingness to perform tasks requiring moderate physical strength
- Proven ability to read basic operating instructions
- Proven ability to cooperate with other staff members
- Proven ability to adapt to changes in the work environment
- Proven dependability and punctuality
- Proven ability to respond to emergencies in support of students and school operations
- Have the physical ability to repeatedly lift heavy objects (up to 40 lbs.) as needed
- Ability to support school functions and community activities as deemed necessary
- Proven ability and willingness to learn and follow all safety procedures and practices
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment
- Previous custodial experience
- Ability to use a computer and input data
