KFA is seeking a resourceful and ambitious Project Engineer to lead transformative stormwater and drainage projects across Central Texas. In this role, you will design innovative solutions that protect public safety, promote environmental sustainability, and strengthen communities. Working directly with public-sector clients such as the City of Austin and neighboring municipalities, you will play a pivotal role in shaping critical infrastructure.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver Meaningful Projects: Lead the design and delivery of municipal stormwater projects, including neighborhood flood mitigation, storm drainage improvements, and channel restoration initiatives.
  • Solve Complex Challenges: Develop innovative and cost-effective solutions that align with client goals, regulatory standards, and environmental best practices.
  • Mentor and Develop Talent: Guide and oversee junior engineers, ensuring the production of high-quality hydrologic and hydraulic models, plans, specifications, and reports.
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver cohesive, client-focused solutions.


Requirements:

  • Texas PE license (or ability to obtain within 6 months) and a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience delivering municipal stormwater and drainage projects.
  • Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools, such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and Civil 3D or MicroStation.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with advanced modeling software (XPSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS 2D)
  • Expertise in FEMA modeling, floodplain mapping, and TCEQ water quality design
  • Experience with channel design and stream bank stabilization
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) designation is a strong plus
