Job Overview :
Our client are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent to lead and oversee large-scale civil infrastructure projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
In this leadership role, you will manage on-site operations, coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers, and serve as the primary point of contact for field activities. This position is ideal for a results-driven professional with expertise in one or more phases of construction, such as pipe, dirt, structures, or pavement.
Key Responsibilities :
- Project Oversight : Manage daily on-site activities for heavy civil projects, ensuring construction aligns with plans, specifications, and timelines.
- Specialised Knowledge : Leverage expertise in one or more phases of construction (e.g., pipe installation, earthwork, structural work, or pavement construction) to oversee and guide specialised tasks effectively.
- Team Leadership : Supervise and motivate field crews, assign tasks, and enforce safety protocols while promoting teamwork and efficiency.
- Scheduling & Coordination : Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure seamless workflow and timely completion.
- Quality Assurance : Monitor the quality of work performed, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions to maintain the highest standards of workmanship.
- Safety Compliance : Enforce OSHA guidelines and company safety policies, conduct regular safety meetings and inspections, and address potential hazards proactively.
- Resource Management : Manage site resources, including equipment, materials, and personnel, to minimise downtime and ensure efficient operations.
- Cost Control : Monitor project costs, manage labour and material expenses, and identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining quality and safety.
- Stakeholder Communication : Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients, inspectors, and other stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress and addressing concerns.
- Problem Solving : Identify and resolve on-site issues such as design conflicts, unforeseen conditions, and resource shortages to maintain project momentum.
- Documentation & Reporting : Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including work progress, materials used, and labour hours. Submit regular progress reports to project managers.
- Project Close-Out : Ensure all work is completed to specifications and assist with final inspections, punch lists, and close-out documentation.
