Position Overview:

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing essential HR functions, which include providing administrative support, ensuring compliance with regulations, processing multi-state payroll, overseeing payroll management, recruitment efforts, and administering benefits and compensation. Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Administrative Support

  • Enter employee data and benefits changes in Paylocity HRIS promptly and accurately.
  • Partner with all departments and workgroups to support audits and other HR-related requests.
  • Monitor and respond to employee inquiries in the HR inbox.
  • Provides occasional assistance in coordinating departmental and other meetings.

Payroll Management

  • Manage & process multi-state payroll, state and county tax registrations, leave updates, recordkeeping, and collaborate with finance on payroll reconciliation.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Collaborate with hiring managers on recruitment tasks, including creating job descriptions, posting job openings, screening candidates, and onboarding new employees.
  • Ensure a positive new hire experience by facilitating new employee onboarding that includes background checks and employment eligibility verifications.
  • Respond to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Human Capital Manager.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Support the Human Capital Manager in complying with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends and best practices.
  • Prepare and maintain various HR reports and metrics for management review.

Compensation and Benefits

In collaboration with HR manager:

  • Evaluate jobs and their respective duties to determine exempt, nonexempt, and appropriate classification.
  • Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.
  • Assist with maintaining competitive, cost-effective benefits packages for the organization.
  • Coordinate annual benefit open enrollment.
  • Manage STD, LTD, and Locus Paid Family Leave benefits.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • At least 5 years of professional-level HR experience managing employment law compliance, benefits administration, and position/compensation management.
  • Strong administrative background and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of human resource laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Candidates must possess experience with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Paylocity preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Professional Certification Preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is preferred.

Computer/Technology:

  • Excellent Word, Excel, and Windows file management skills are mandatory.
  • Familiarity with Outlook or similar network-based email and calendar software.
  • Extensive computer usage and Microsoft Teams communication.
  • Demonstrated web research skills.
  • Must be able to work independently in a stable and remote environment.

Communication:

  • Ability to communicate verbally across all levels of the organization in a clear, concise, and confident manner.
  • Ability to write accurate, clear, and organized communications, incorporating a range of information and analysis. Ability to document workflow and procedures.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $65,000 - $75,000 annual salary, depending on skills and experience
  • Annual bonus opportunity
