Mission:
The Project Accountant manages the financial aspects of our sales projects, ensuring all financial activities are tracked, reported, and aligned with the project’s budget and department financial objectives. The Project Accountant will work closely with project managers, sales team members, and cross-functional teams to provide data quality, reporting, and problem solving, ultimately ensuring financial success of projects and the department.

- Lead a consistent, on-brand customer experience by overseeing the financial elements that impact the project process for our customer
Expectations: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following expectations satisfactorily.
- Create, maintain, and close sales jobs in accounting systems, ensuring complete and accurate documentation for all transactions.
- Monitor and update ongoing projects for scope changes, adjusting cost and billing schedules.
- Issue purchase orders and verify procurement aligns with project budget and scope.
- Process vendor invoices, confirming costs are posted to the correct project cost codes or accounts, reconciling any discrepancies
- Record project cost transactions, including contingency expenses and equipment in inventory
- Generate accurate and timely invoices for industrial sales, ensuring all billing requirements and policies are met.
- Analyze project costs to identify variances, making certain that projects remain on budget and cost allocations are accurate.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensuring all completed work & milestones are billed, reducing unbilled AR.
- Assist with monthly routines, including project closures, posting internal invoices, journal entries, and generating reports.
- Provide financial support to other business units within the Sales Department, assisting with financial tasks.

Qualifications/Experience/Education:
- 2 years’ experience in accounting operations, preferably with a focus in project accounting, construction accounting, or similar industry
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications with advanced understanding of Excel, including managing large data sets and complex functions (i.e. VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
- Knowledge of Salesforce, Microsoft Business Central, or similar CRM/ERP systems preferred.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial information clearly, engage effectively in discussions, and respond well to feedback in both positive and challenging situations.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong technical aptitude, with a quick learning curve for new systems and the ability to train and support team members in their adoption.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation, which includes a motor vehicle check, and drug screen.
