Director of Product - Telecom Sector

Position Summary: As the Director of Product, you will play a critical role in defining and executing the strategic product vision for our telecommunications offerings. You will oversee the full product lifecycle--from inception and definition through to execution, launch, and ongoing iterations. Your expertise will guide a team of product managers in developing data-driven, user-centric solutions that meet market demands while aligning with key business objectives and tech advancements, including 5G architectures, IoT integrations, and edge computing paradigms.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership and Team Development: Drive the performance of a diverse team of product managers by cultivating a culture of innovation, accountability, and agile principles. Employ coaching techniques to enhance technical acumen and business understanding within the team.
• Product Vision and Strategy Development: Formulate and refine a comprehensive product vision that resonates with both consumers and enterprise clients, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy. Leverage techniques for vision articulation that incorporate customer pain points and anticipated future demands.
• Product Roadmap Creation: Articulate a detailed product roadmap that outlines key milestones, project timelines, and resource allocation aligned with essential business objectives. Utilize methods such as Gantt charts or portfolio management tools to convey priorities and progress.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage proactively with development, operations, UX/UI design, marketing, and sales to orchestrate an end-to-end product development lifecycle. Promote the use of collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) to ensure transparent and efficient workflows.
• Market Research and Competitive Analysis: Conduct extensive market research utilizing qualitative and quantitative methodologies to assess customer needs, preferences, and pain points. Employ frameworks such as Value Proposition Canvas and Business Model Canvas to outline competitive advantages and differentiators.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Implement robust analytics frameworks, leveraging tools like Google Analytics and Tableau, to monitor product performance against KPIs. Conduct A/B testing and utilize cohort analysis to derive insights for continuous improvement.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with technical and business architects to align product technical specifications with business goals. Compile and present strategic recommendations for new product initiatives to executives and stakeholders, using data visualization techniques to communicate insights effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or Engineering; an advanced degree (MBA or relevant Master's) is highly advantageous.
• 10 years of progressive experience in the related field, with at least 5 years in product management leading teams in fast-paced, telecom-centric environments.
• Technical foundation in network connectivity, and an understanding of 4G LTE, 5G NSA, 5G SA, and Network Slicing.
• Proficiency in IPSec/GRE, Routing (OSPF, BGP), SD-WAN, Zero Trust Security (ZTNA), VPN, and NAC.
• Strong understanding of wireless networking technologies, trends, and service providers infrastructure.
• Proven experience delivering products to service providers and working extensively at the business and technical level with multiple teams, customers, partners, and executives.
• Ability to engage technical teams to discuss use cases, review feature/function requirements, and define solutions.
• Proven record of successfully guiding innovative products from concept (0) through to market (1) with quantified results, emphasizing market adoption and revenue growth.
• Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in employing analytical frameworks and tools to support strategic decisions; familiarity with SQL and dashboard analytics is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, equipped to engage diverse audiences ranging from engineers to senior executives and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, implementing Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) to steer team dynamics and product development cycles.
• In-depth knowledge of telecom ecosystems, including wireless and wired technologies, network architectures, spectrum regulations, IoT advancements, and competitive dynamics shaping the telecom sector.
