Description
As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing your own book of business. Soliciting new business and building relationships with customers to secure freight opportunities. Sourcing and developing relationships with carriers. Negotiating rates and monitoring the movement of your scheduled freight to ensure we are providing the highest level of customer service possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Relationship Building & Solution-Oriented Sales: Building and managing client and carrier relationships through cold calling, qualifying and closing deals in a dynamic sale’s setting
- Masterful Negotiation: Utilizing your negotiation prowess to determine competitive pricing with both carriers and shippers, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements
- Operational Excellence: Oversee daily shipments, ensuring punctual pick-up and delivery, and swiftly addressing any unforeseen issues
- Logistics Expert: Immerse yourself in industry knowledge by analyzing market data to stay abreast of industry trends and market dynamics
Requirements
Qualifications / Competencies:
- Previous experience in selling full truckload (FTL) transportation services
- Strong/professional communication both verbally and electronic communication methods
- Customer-centric mindset and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable dealing with situational ambiguity
- Ability to work in a technologically advanced office setting
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires problem-solving and decision making
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Strong attentional to detail / multitasking
Experience/Education: 1-3yrs Brokerage/Logistics experience in a sales-oriented position
Work Environment: Busy group office environment, noisy and or distracting. Semi-professional setting, business casual dress.
Physical Demands: Sit up to 8 hrs/day. Free to move around as needed.
