Salary Range: $18.12 - $21.54
Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.
Position Summary:
- Scheduled hours of work include weekdays, every other weekend, some evenings and holidays.
- This position may be held as an interim as a staff member undertakes receiving Activity Leader Certification for the State of California.
- Must work well under stress or tight deadlines.
- Must work well with supervisors, co-workers, patients/residents, family members and visitors.

Position Duties/Responsibility:
- Presents individual and group activities. Assists with planning activity programs.
- Presents three to five activity programs daily.
- Presents programs as they are described in the program description.
- Begins and concludes programs on time.
- Assures needed attendance at programs by communicating with the nursing staff.
- Pursues each resident’s active highest practical participation.
- Conduct individual room visits with residents for socialization and sensory stimulation.
- Assist with maintaining participation records.
- Record accurately: attendance, degree of participation and residents responses.
- Assist with assembling bulletin boards, display calendars, and arranging equipment for programs.
- Assists with residents’ care and special needs
- Occasionally transports residents to appointments, shopping or out of facility activities.
- Passes trays at breakfast and lunch in the Activity Room.

Essential Functions:
- The ability for prolonged standing, walking and sitting.

Position Qualifications:
- Education: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrate ability to read, write and follow instructions.
- Experience: Experience working the elderly is preferred but not required.
- Certifications: Must possess a valid California Drivers License (with a good driving record).
- Skills/Ability: Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; perform responsibilities within departmental time lines; successfully coordinate several tasks simultaneously; be able to work as departmental needs dictate, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime; be able to work with individuals of all functioning levels.
