We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming multi-axis lathes, developing efficient machining processes, and ensuring high-quality precision manufacturing.


Responsibilities:

  • Create CNC programs using company programming software, based on provided drawings.
  • Review and analyze drawings to determine cutting dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
  • Oversee machinist progress, providing guidance on necessary adjustments or modifications to maintain part specifications.
  • Ensure all programs are backed up daily to the company server.
  • Plan machining operations, tolerances, and sequences by studying work orders, sample parts, blueprints, engineering plans, material specifications, and orthographic drawings; interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Program mills and lathes by inputting instructions such as zero and reference points, tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculate requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; validate part programs.
  • Assist with or perform machine setups for mills and lathes, including installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, indicating vices, etc.
  • Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials necessary for machining tasks.
  • Monitor and adjust machine feed and speed during operation to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain part specifications by overseeing drilling, grooving, cutting, and other operations such as turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing; take measurements, identify malfunctions, troubleshoot processes, and adjust or reprogram controls as needed; replace or sharpen worn tools while adhering to quality assurance procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, management, and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical insights and improve processes.
  • Program and operate computers or electronic instruments, such as numerically controlled machine tools, to ensure accurate machining.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of CNC programming experience, with expertise in multi-axis lathes.
  • Proficiency in GibbsCAM is required.
  • Experience with SolidWorks is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of G-code, M-code, and CNC machine operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.
  • Understanding of cutting tool selection, speeds, and feeds for various materials.
  • Experience working in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team setting.
