Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Production Manager to oversee the operations of our production facility. This individual will ensure efficient production processes, maintain high-quality standards, and foster a positive work culture. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep appreciation for handcrafted craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and Develop Employees - Develop and lead a high functioning FSL Production Team.

· Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of Lead personnel, ensuring alignment with production goals and company objectives.

· Foster a collaborative and proactive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.

Training and Development- Be a champion of staff development.

· Design and implement training programs for production staff to enhance their skills and knowledge of equipment, processes, and safety protocols.

· Ensure all employees are thoroughly trained in standard operating procedures and material optimization techniques.

· Identify skill gaps within the team and provide targeted training to improve performance.

· Encourage continuous learning and professional development among team members.

Safety - Promote a culture of safety awareness.

· Develop, implement, and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

· Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and training sessions to address potential hazards and maintain compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.

· Investigate workplace incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Direct Labor Efficiency - Ensure best practices are used to drive down direct labor rates.

· Optimize labor allocation and processes to minimize costs while maintaining or improving productivity.

· Develop and implement strategies to reduce material usage and waste without compromising product quality.

· Monitor daily production schedules, ensuring timely, efficient completion of all tasks.

Resource Management - Optimize material costs.

· Monitor and optimize the use of lumber, plywood, and other key materials to minimize waste and maximize yield.

· Implement systems for precise material cutting, nesting, and allocation to ensure efficient utilization of lumber and plywood.

· Collaborate with the production team to identify material-saving opportunities and reduce scrap during manufacturing processes.

Continuous Improvement – develop and nurture a continuous improvement culture on the production floor.

· Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement Lean Manufacturing practices.

· Optimize material flow through the plant to minimize movement and reduce bottlenecks.

· Track and analyze production metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Quality - Produce heirloom quality products that customers are proud to have in their home.

· Ensure good quality is received from suppliers, produced in the company and passed on to customers.

· Track and analyze internal quality issues and rework costs caught prior to shipping, and at the customer.
