Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will support the accounting department by performing various tasks related to accounts payable, payroll, titling work, vehicle registration, and general bookkeeping. This role is essential in ensuring accurate financial records and timely processing of transactions. Duties
- Assist with accounts payable by processing invoices and ensuring timely payments as needed
- Perform double entry bookkeeping to maintain accurate financial records.
- Assist with payroll processes, including data entry and verification of employee hours as needed
- Utilize accounting software for financial reporting and record-keeping.
- Conduct typing for data entry tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Support tax preparation by gathering necessary documentation and assisting with filings.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial information is shared.
- Maintain organized files for all financial transactions and documentation.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Files within appropriate file system all dealership forms, records, reports, correspondence, or other important material.
- Keeps files current.
- Keeps records of material removed from files.
- Answers incoming phone calls as needed. Directs caller to appropriate department or individual or takes a thorough message.
- Assists service customers during the morning and evening service rush whenever possible as needed.
- Take deposits to bank, go to post office, etc as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
- Title experience a plus, Registration of vehicles a plus
Experience
- Previous experience as an accounting clerk or in a similar role is preferred.
- Familiarity with payroll processes is a plus.
- Proficiency in accounting software is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of financial principles and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
