Job Description
This position is for a Front/Back Office Medical Assistant . In this position, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of our gastroenterology practice. You will support doctors and patients as part of the back-office teams under the direct supervision of our Back Office Supervisor. Our beautiful main office was built in the Douglas Park area of Long Beach in 2015.
Responsibilities
- Organize and schedule office and procedure appointments
- Provide clear instructions on detailed preparation for procedures
- Preparation of ancillary services requisition forms
- Obtain authorizations for procedures
- Answer patient questions
- E-prescribing and data entry into patient medical charts
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments in a timely manner, ensuring optimal use of clinic resources.
- Review documentation to verify patient information and ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Manage medical records, including the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date patient files.
- Conduct insurance verification to confirm coverage and eligibility for services provided.
- Utilize knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding to assist in the documentation process as needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding appointment details, cancellations, and rescheduling.
- Collaborate with dental clinic staff and hospital personnel to streamline operations and enhance patient experience.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is Preferred
Requirements or Qualifications
- Previous medical office experience is mandatory
- Minimum of two years of experience (excluding internship time)
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Stable employment history
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Exceptional computer skills and experience with electronic health records
- Must be able to pass background check and provide professional references
