What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant/Associate Director of Freshman Admissions position at Long Island University?
Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Assistant/Associate Director of Freshman Admissions has a primary focus on first-year student recruitment, including domestic and international students, and admissions counseling. There will also be some cross-recruitment with other markets. It incorporates a full range of admissions responsibilities including establishing and strengthening a recruitment territory, representing the University to prospective students and family members, evaluating admissions applications, and contributing to the planning and implementation of admissions projects and activities. The position is located on the Brooklyn campus.
The Assistant/Associate Director is responsible for practicing good student service principles and embracing a holistic student development strategic plan. This position requires an understanding of best practices in higher education and admissions.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary admissions recruiter undergraduate programs at the LIU Brooklyn campus.
- Represent Long Island University at day and evening recruitment programs and during individual recruitment visits.
- Prepare and deliver presentations about the university and provide prospective students with information about academic programs, admission procedures, and policy.
- Present to small or large groups; conduct student interviews; provide information and guidance to prospective students and their families.
- Complete application review for prospective applicants.
- Assist with various marketing campaigns, applicant file evaluation (including secondary school, GED, and college transcripts), and a variety of administrative activities, assigned.
- Help to enhance relationships between the High School Guidance Counselors, Academic Program Coordinators, and the community.
- Counsel prospective students and their families by telephone/mail/email on admission policies and procedures and other enrollment-related information
- Provide appropriate follow-up to all students in attendance at recruitment events while providing a high-level of customer service
- Review applications, assist with credit evaluation and render admission decisions in compliance with LIU's admission policies
- Maintain tracking information on students in all stages, from inquiry through enrolled
- Maintain and document contact with admitted students via telephone, email, and mail
- Prepare regular year-to-date and final progress reports for the Director
- Represent LIU at fairs, open houses, and other recruitment events; overnight travel is required.
- Other duties assigned by Director of Admissions.
Education Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree required
Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
Experience in Admissions or a related field is highly desired. The Associate Director must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point. Previous experience using PeopleSoft and Image Now systems is preferred. The Associate Director must possess excellent written and oral communications skills. Additionally, the Associate Director must exhibit strong interpersonal and time management skills. Positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment is necessary.
Working Conditions:
This position operates in an office setting, Monday through Friday; however, evening and weekend hours are required. Travel within New York and out-of-state are required.

Salary : $64,350 - $65,000
