What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher (Education Specialist) for Doyle & Portola position at Long Valley-Thompson Peak Charter Schools?
1.Provide instructions and services for those eligible pupils whose needs have been identified and for whom Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) have been developed. These pupils shall be assigned to regular classroom teachers for more than a majority of the school day (RSP).
2.Act as case carrier, as assigned; including the scheduling and documenting of IEP team meetings in accordance with the written procedures of the Lassen County Local Plan Area.
3.Assist, as a member of the multidisciplinary team, in the assessment and re-evaluation of pupils as assigned on approved and appropriate materials.
4.Provide information and assistance to pupils with exceptional needs and to their parents using daily lesson plans and appropriate materials.
5.Provide consultation, resource information, and material regarding pupils with exceptional needs to their parents and to regular staff members.
6.Coordinate special education services with the regular school programs for each individual with exceptional needs enrolled in the resource specialist program by maintaining an effective level of communication with school site personnel.
7.Follow IEPs in designing lesson plans and daily activities which encompass a wide range of content area both academic and non-academic emphasizing at the secondary level academic achievement, career and vocational development, and preparation for adult life.
8.Monitor pupil progress on a regular basis, participate in the review and revision of IEPs and refer pupils who do not demonstrate appropriate progress to the IEP team.
9.Develop and maintain standards of pupil behavior through the supervision of pupils during in-classroom and out-of-classroom activities by using effective communication skills and providing an effective physical environment.
10.Select and request books, instructional aids and supplies as indicated by IEPs in accordance with the school site program and maintain an accurate inventory of the allocated materials.
11.Keep accurate attendance and other pupil records pertinent to the program and for selected Federal and State reports while assuring their confidentiality.
12. Regularly attend meetings and trainings conducted by the Lassen County Local Plan Area.
13.Respond professionally to administrative directions and to the needs of the educational program in the same manner as local district staff.
14.Performs such other tasks and such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned or delegated.
