Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Part-Time Accountant to join our growing wholesale distribution business. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage bookkeeping tasks in both a remote and in-office hybrid work environment. The bookkeeper will play a key role in managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Bookkeeping:
- Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate ledgers in accounting software.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and vendor accounts.
- Post journal entries, including payroll, expenses, and other financial transactions.
- Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Inventory Management:
- Provide support to operations team for tracking inventory and recording associated costs.
- Reconcile inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) in financial records.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis.
- Review and ensure accuracy of financial reports and statements.
- Tax and Compliance:
- Assist with sales tax reporting and filings.
- Maintain accurate records for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Communication & Support:
- Collaborate with senior management to gather necessary financial data.
- Communicate with internal teams regarding billing and payments.
- Provide support during audits and financial reviews.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper, accounting assistant, or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with wholesale distribution business operations is a plus.
- Basic understanding of tax laws and financial regulations is preferred. (Avalara experience is a plus)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a hybrid environment.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid work model (remote and in-office).
- Flexible part-time schedule (approx. 16 hours per week, to be discussed based on candidate's availability).
- Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
