What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Custodian - 3:00 - 11:00 pm shift position at Longmeadow Public School District?
REPORT TO: Head Building CustodianJOB MISSION: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.2. Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure the economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.3. Shovels, operate snow blower and/or sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.4.
Checks daily to ensure all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy.5. Sweeps classrooms daily, and dusts furniture.6. Cleans corridors each day.7.Scrubs and disinfects toilet floors, sanitary fixtures, and drinking fountains daily.8. Washes windows inside and out, as needed.9.
Keeps grounds free of rubbish.10. Performs such yard-keeping chores as mowing, shrub trimming, and the like as necessary to maintain the school grounds.11.Makes minor building and equipment repairs as he/she is capable of.12. Remains on the premises during school hours and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance is required by the Principal.13.Reports immediately to the Head Custodian, or Shift Leader, who reports to the Principal, any damage to school property.14. Assumes responsibility for the opening and/or closing of the building and determining that all doors and windows are secured and that all non-essential lights and mechanical equipment are turned off.15.Moves furniture and equipment within the building for various activities as directed by the Principal.16.
