Water Treatment and Distribution Operator
Job Title: Water and Distribution Operations and Maintenance
- This is an entry level position however certified operators will be considered. If no experience, $25.00/hour will be the starting salary.
- Must reside within a 30-minute drive from the assigned work location at posted speed limits under favorable (weather/traffic) conditions.
- Must have a clean Colorado MVR. A background check and drug screen will be performed before hire.

Nature of the Work
Longs Peak Water District has an outstanding career opportunity for an energetic, service-oriented individual for our operations and maintenance staff. The position will require a diversity of skills relating to surface water treatment and distribution system operation and maintenance. After hours and weekend on-call duty will be required. A Class D and/or a Distribution I certification will be required within 3 months of hire. Salary is DOE.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of tenured staff, perform entry level, semi-skilled and skilled technical and maintenance work in the daily operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant and distribution system.

Operates, regulates, and maintains direct filtration water treatment plant and distribution system, including supply, storage, treatment, water metering, and infrastructure repairs.
Performs other related work as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
Knowledge of overall operations of a water treatment and distribution systems.
Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods of time, including operating various types of tools and equipment associated with water maintenance, lifting, carrying, and loading/unloading heavy items and materials, hand-digging trenches and holes accessing and working from below-grade trenches and above-grade ladders.
Must be able to climb water storage tanks using proper safety equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to set work priorities.
Ability to read and interpret maps.
Basic computer skills.
Must be able to respond to emergency situations as needed and to work a variable work scheduled including overtime, weekends and holidays as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Backhoe operations and any pipeline excavation experience is a plus.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
