JOB SUMMARY (Why does job exist?)
The Custodian reports directly to the Maintenance Manager or the Maintenance Supervisor in his absence. This position is responsible for general tasks as directed. The duties may include cleaning buildings, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy. Vacuums and buffs floors, shampoo carpets, empties trash receptacles, and replace lining of trash cans. Applicants working at this level will have a professional aptitude, and be self-motivated with goals for continuous improvement. The position will be supporting the Longview Power 700 MW Super-Critical Coal Fired Generating Station.
ESSSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain buildings industrial or commercial property.
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
- Empty waste receptacles, remove trash to designated area compactor or dumpster
- Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
- Clean windows and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
- Clean and sanitize drinking fountains
- Thoroughly clean restrooms by using a germicidal cleaner on all surfaces of washbasins, toilets, urinals, partitions, and wet mopping the floors.
- Supply restrooms
- Identify and report malfunctioning of plumbing, electrical, or mechanical equipment
- Report supplies needed to be furnished
- Dust furniture and equipment weekly
- Dust high and low areas (pictures, clocks, ledges, partitions, top and bottom)
- On an as needed basis: carpet shampooing; strip and refinish resilient tile floor; wash windows outside; clean blinds; wall washing; recondition resilient tile floors by high speed buffing; and mold remediation
- Comply with all Safety & Environmental policies, practices and procedures
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
- Required to be on call and work night shift when needed
- And any other duties assigned to meet the Vision, fulfill the Mission, and abide by the Values of this organization

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Level of education and experience needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Level of language (ability to read, write and speak English) needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Level of mathematical skills and ability to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
