Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team at our Assisted Living facility. The Director of Nursing is responsible for providing exceptional care and ensuring that our residents receive the highest level of care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing administration, with a focus on Skilled Nursing/ Nursing Home settings. This role is a critical position that requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of medical terminology, and the ability to manage a team of nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the nursing department, ensuring that all care is delivered in accordance with our facility's policies and regulations.
- Manage the nursing team, providing guidance and support to ensure that staff are equipped to deliver high-quality care.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to nursing care, ensuring that they align with industry standards and best practices.
- Conduct regular rounds to assess the quality of care being delivered and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other members of the management team to ensure that the facility's goals and objectives are being met.
- Develop and manage the facility's budget for nursing care, ensuring that it aligns with our overall financial goals.
- Ensure that all documentation is complete and accurate, and that all records are maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve patient satisfaction and overall care.
- Provide ongoing education and training to nursing staff, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge necessary to deliver high-quality care.
- Manage and coordinate care transitions, ensuring that residents receive seamless care throughout their stay.
-Interprets and communicates policies and procedures to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices and implementation.
-Participates in daily or weekly management team meetings to discuss census changes, resident changes in status, complaints or concerns.-
-Evaluates work performance of all nursing personnel and implements discipline according to operational policies.
-Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate staff coverage on the units, general cleanliness, and maintaining optimal resident functions.
-Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team, physicians, consultants, and community agencies to identify and resolve issues and improve the quality of services.
-Assist Human Resources with the new hire On-Boarding program
-Conduct competency skills review on hire and annually for all nursing personnel
-Provide skill training to new staff in any deficient area noted above before allowing the nursing assistant to perform the task with a resident
-Coordinate and track all in-services regarding mandatory topics
-Evaluate in-services training to develop programs that enhance resident care skills
-Regulate and monitor employee training via Healthcare Academy
-Participate in hiring process as screener/interviewer for all nursing department personnel, as requested
-Conduct trainings and ensure that records are maintained with SNF
-Provide daily communication to DON, or designees, regarding the goals and training schedule for the week, to include updates and DON approvals
-Other special projects and duties, as assigned
Skills:
- Proven experience in nursing administration, with a focus on Long Term Care setting
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Experience with shift management and the ability to manage a team of nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Familiarity with electronic systems and documentation review.
- Strong physiology knowledge and the ability to develop and implement policies and procedures related to nursing care.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff and residents.
