Job Description:
Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Information Technology Specialist I (00095 & 00018). The successful candidate will provide technical support to faculty/staff and students regarding networking, software, hardware, e-mail and telecommunications. This position is responsible for resolving as many issues over the phone with customers as possible and for creating and assigning work orders to the appropriate technician as necessary. Must effectively communicate policies and procedures to faculty/staff and students over the phone, electronically, and in person as needed. Assist with hands-on computer repair as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma / GED
- Experience in a customer service environment
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently and provide outstanding customer support via telephone, electronically, and in person is crucial
- Strong knowledge of a number of software applications including Windows, Mac, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Undergraduate degree in Computing, Information Sciences, or similar or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is preferred but not required.

This is a full-time, classified, non-exempt position in a pay band 4. A successful criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
