Job Description:

As a Communications & Community Partnerships Specialist, you will develop and implement communications activities that engage, inform and inspire our employees and the greater community. In alignment with our Company Values and overall site strategy, this person will act as a communications champion, and support on special projects, executing internal campaigns and fostering collaborations between Lonza Houston and external community partners.

Key Responsibilities:

COMMUNICATIONS (80%)

Develop, implement, and evaluate internal and external communication strategies to support the Houston site. Align communications efforts with Site Strategy and YOY goals while driving local and global initiatives in collaboration with the Chief of Staff.

  • Global to Local: work closely with the Global Communications and Marketing teams ensuring Corporate Governance. Support the local deployment of global communications (e.g. Lonza Roadmap, Divisional Town Halls, LBMS, Quality, HR, etc.).

  • Planning: create and manage an internal communications schedule based on department yearly roadmap, assisting with planning and budget.

  • Local: Support the development and deployment of local communications campaigns in conjunction with POCs (e.g. Shared Services, Employee Resource Groups, Article Interviews, etc.) and coordinate to reinforce People Leader Cascaded Communication.

  • Assist the Site Leadership team with strategic communications (Site (Townhalls, Forums, External Presentations, articles, etc.)

  • Curation & Data: Manage and track metrics on CMS implement pulse surveys and other initiatives to track ROI.

  • Act as a key member of the crisis communication management as a team and ensure regular media training for assigned spokespeople.

Workforce Development (15%)

  • Drive an Education Outreach strategy alongside the ERG lead to engage Academia centers in accordance with talent sourcing and readiness (curriculum, special events, external collaborations).

  • Engage with local Chamber, Economic Development and other local entities by attending key meetings and forums; identifying and driving funding and other initiatives that support our brand position, hiring and employee development needs.

Site Administration (5%)

  • Work closely with Senior Administrator to assist in managing vendor contacts, large-scale site events, and site calendars (excluding Divisional, Site and Customer schedules).

Key Requirements:

  • University degree in Communications or similar field closely related (will accept science background if skillset is proficient, scientific writing a plus)

  • A minimum of 5-8y previous experience in internal communications, events or similar (in a manufacturing or production environment a plus)

  • Fluent in English, other languages a clear plus

  • Coaching and consulting skills

  • Knowledge in technologies (ie CMS) and trends in Communications and Engagement

  • Excellent writing skills, conceptual skills, experience as a project leader and/or line manager

  • Good social competencies and willingness to work in a global environment

  • Flexibility, ability to work in a transformative space

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Science knowledge/interest or background/education

  • Photography and/or Video Experience

  • Knowledge of recruitment cycles
