The Demand Planner is responsible for forecasting and analyzing demand for Lonza Bioscience products. This role plays a critical part in ensuring efficient inventory levels, reducing stockouts, and improving customer happiness while minimizing costs. The demand planner participates in sales and operations planning (S&OP) processes, as well as contributions to special projects and other supply chain and business strategy initiatives. This position develops and maintains professional relationships with internal and external partners (such as supply planning, finance, sales and marketing, and product management) and supply chain planning partners.
Key Responsibilities
The full-time base annual salary for this remote position is expected to range between $86,400.00 and $100,800.00. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and job-related knowledge. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain accurate and timely sales forecasts using statistical methods, historical data, market trends, and other relevant information.
- Analyze historical sales data, market trends, competitive activity, and promotional plans to identify demand patterns and forecast future demand accurately.
- Utilize forecasting tools and techniques such as moving averages, exponential smoothing, regression analysis, and other statistical models.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and other relevant departments to capture market intelligence and incorporate their insights into the forecasting process to reflect those impacts and achieve consensus for demand forecasts.
- Analyze demand signals, such as point-of-sale data, customer orders, and market research, to identify demand trends and opportunities.
- Prepare reports and presentations summarizing key demand insights and recommendations for management.
- Continuously evaluate and improve forecasting accuracy and demand planning processes.
- Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Keep abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in demand planning.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, operations, finance, and procurement, to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze large datasets and identify trends.
- Proficiency in statistical software and forecasting tools (e.g., Excel, SAP, Oracle, Tableau).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with SAP APO, IBP is a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong sense of urgency and adaptability.
- Competent using MS Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to utilize Business Intelligence systems to extract data and generate reports.
- Experience with data analytics tools.
- Travel up to 10% is required.
