As the Scientific Support Specialist II, you will be responsible for providing customers, distributors, and sales representatives with detailed technical information about Lonza products. You will troubleshoot product performance issues, document, and escalate potential product quality events. Additionally, you will lead mid- to large-scale projects, overseeing and guiding the activities of Scientific Support Specialist I and II team members as needed.
Key Responsibilities
The full-time base annual salary for this onsite position is expected to range between $77,400.00 and $90,300.00. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and job-related knowledge. Key Responsibilities
- Mentor and direct the activities of Scientific Support Specialists I and II on projects as required
- Lead Mid to Large scope projects with multiple stakeholders and higher visibility to multiple stakeholders across business units
- Initiate and lead discussions with Quality Assurance, Product Managers, Sales Managers, Quality Control, R&D, Production, etc. to help of product quality issues
- Work to improve and streamline SST procedures as directed by Group Leader/Manager
- Provide technical product information to internal and external customers
- Demonstrate professional written and oral communication skills
- Maintain a log of incoming calls, emails and complaints
- Record customer complaints in Lonza’s quality tracking systems
- Provide troubleshooting and application assistance to customers
- Develop and review technical literature/documents
- Develop and lead product training for customers, sales force and distributors
- Lead larger scope projects
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Take proactive approach to develop career path using learning and development tools with focus on specific goals as required
- BS degree (MS degree preferred) in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics
- Several years of relevant work experience, typically ranging from mid-level to senior-level roles
- Works on abstract problems across functional areas of business. Identifies and evaluates fundamental problems for major functional areas through assessment of intangible variables. Exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Knowledge of cell systems, morphology, aseptic laboratory technique, tissue culture technique, familiarity with laboratory testing or primary cell procedures
- Knowledge of Cell Biology and Anatomy and Physiology
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office and CRM, organization skills, recordkeeping, filing, time management, professional telephone skills, faxing, emailing, regular attendance
- Written and oral communication, team oriented, independent work skills, diplomacy, strong work ethic, facilitation skills, problem solving skills
