Looking Upwards is seeking dedicated employees for our Personal Assistance Services and Supports (PASS) Program. PASS is a family-directed service provided in the home and/or community setting. A PASS worker will help families of children with special health care needs with the following:
- A child’s ability to become more independent with activities of daily life
- A child’s ability to self-regulate to maintain safety
- A child’s ability to participate in home and community activities that require peer interactions and use of social skills
Expert guidance by a clinical consultant is available to the family and PASS worker to provide recommendations to work toward family goals. All shift duties will vary depending on the specific needs of each child. Parent/caretaker will provide all training specific to their child.
WHO CAN BE A PASS WORKER?
- GREAT for folks with years of direct service experience (DSP's, TA's, Para's, CNA's) looking to pick up a 2nd job or flexible hours OR
- GREAT experience for college students or those new to the field seeking to gain hands on experience to build their resume.
Responsibilites:
- Implements direct personal assistance goals for a child or teenager developed by the family in conjunction with the agency.
- Provide safe one to one care per the treatment plan for children with special health care needs as directed by parents/caretakers.
- Provide socialization opportunities within home and/or outside of home when appropriate.
- Perform all necessary self-care tasks as needed by the individual supported.
- Carry out specific tasks outlined in the approved PASS plan.
- Documents progress on required data sheets and progress notes
- Provide required documentation to Coordinator in a timely manner (data sheets, timesheets and incident reports).
- Participates in all required meetings and trainings.
- Drives children to destinations, as approved by parent/caretaker and in conjunction with their PASS goals
All applicants must:
- be at least 18 years of age
- have 2-3 years of experience supporting children
- successfully pass a background investigation and a DCYF clearance
- have a clean driving history for 3 years
