About the Role
Loomis Sayles is seeking an Associate-level investment professional to play a critical part in supporting the team’s origination, underwriting, and portfolio management of private credit opportunities. The Associate will be involved in all facets of the investment process including financial modeling, due diligence, industry research and portfolio management. The role will require the person to work closely with members of the investment, legal, and operations teams.
About the Team
The Private Credit team manages strategies focused on investing in corporate debt, asset-based securities and infrastructure debt on behalf of institutional clients in separate accounts and commingled vehicles. The growing team is comprised of individuals located in Minneapolis, MN, Boston, MA, Chicago, IL and remote. This is an opportunity to join a young and entrepreneurial business unit within a global asset manager with over $400 billion of AUM.
Job Responsibilities
Financial modeling: Analyze and underwrite potential investments including reviews of historical financials, development of cashflow projection models and investment analyses. Apply various qualitative and quantitative methods to assess the risk and relative value of potential investments.
Due diligence: Support the deal team throughout the transaction due diligence and closing processes. Collect due diligence materials, utilize information and findings in the underwriting of investments, and coordinate with third party diligence providers to facilitate the review and closing of transactions.
Investment research: Support investment team by performing company-specific and industry research for each investment opportunity.
Investment recommendation: Assist in the development of Investment Committee memos and supporting analysis and investment rationale. Ensure the quality, completeness and accuracy of the analysis that precedes investment recommendations as well as manage the overall delivery of associated materials required for decision making.
Portfolio Management: Work with the team to provide support and oversight of portfolio investments, including the preparation of memos, monitoring of financial performance, and maintaining buy/ hold/ sell recommendations.
Coordinate investment process with other functional areas within the company (Legal, Compliance, Portfolio Management, etc.).
Contribute to various team projects to further strengthen or enhance our investment process and product development.
This position is performed in a hybrid manner with a mix of work performed from our office in Minneapolis, MN and remotely. Our organization follows a hybrid work structure where employees meet with their team in the office on set days of the week and can work remotely the other days of the week. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration and may change over time.
Qualifications & Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred, with a strong record of academic achievement
2 years of experience of investment banking, corporate finance, or buy side credit experience preferred; completion of bank credit analyst training a plus
Direct experience in corporate credit, asset-based finance and/or structured products strongly preferred
CFA designation or progress toward designation a plus, but not required
