What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at LOOP?
This position is for an experienced litigation paralegal that will handle personal injury and wrongful death cases in South Carolina and Georgia. The ideal candidate would have five or more years’ experience in a plaintiff or defense personal injury practice as well as a working knowledge of insurance coverage. While the Firm handles cases in both South Carolina and Georgia, this position will be weighted toward South Carolina.
Essential functions:
- Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, and legal codes. Research medical terms, injuries, pharmaceuticals, and medical-related records.
- Prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, and motions for review by attorney
- Subpoena medical records from various providers. Follow up with providers to ensure timely delivery of requested records. Prepare medical chronologies and summaries.
- Coordination of depositions. Scheduling, possible witness preparation and attendance at deposition including summarization of deposition.
- Create trial notebook, pre-trial preparation, and trial attendance.
Qualifications:
- 5 year’s experience in a plaintiff or defense personal injury
- Bachelor’s Degree from 4 year college or university; and/or 2 year Paralegal certification.
- Notary Public – Georgia/South Carolina
- Ability to work effectively and professionally with attorneys to ensure cases move forward and all deadlines are met.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills; including problem solving skills and exceptional interpersonal skills.
Salary : $45,000 - $50,000
