The Safety Basis Division (SB-DO) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) develops and maintains Safety Basis documents for nuclear and high hazard facilities and applies a diverse set of nuclear facility engineering capabilities to provide innovative solutions to enable the Laboratory's scientific and national security mission.
We are seeking one Operations Support Specialist 3 to support the Safety Basis program with quality documents to NNSA for review and approval along with internal deliverables, policies and procedures. This position, at the division office level, will support deliverables from all the safety basis groups, under supervision of the Staff Operations Manager. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive procedure program adhering to Formality of Operations, Change Management and Quality Assurance. Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

- Assisting the Safety Basis Technical team creating, developing and maintaining Safety Basis procedures, plans, work instructions etc.
- Performing technical reviews and updating documents
- Assist managing the workload for all technical editors, ensuring best practices are followed for quality packages to be submitted to NA-LA
- Manage the Safety Basis Document List (SBDL) which provides a single source that lists the safety basis documents for LANL hazard category (HC-2 or HC-3) nuclear facilities that are DOE-approved and implemented, or DOE-approved but not yet implemented.
- Manage the Safety Basis Webpage
- Manage all Safety Basis forms, develop, create, update as necessary following all LANL standards
- Update/status SBD work management system for associated tasks.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge and consultative experience with documentation quality assurance, including document controls and records management.
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and communicate major elements of operations and operational quality assurance to both technical and non-technical personnel
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications.
- Advanced knowledge of Laboratory business and operations systems and standard software applications, including footprint-based system, SharePoint and CMS.
- Exceptional customer service, organizational skills, and ability to interact with all levels of personnel internal and external to the Laboratory.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of LANL Safety Basis Processes; LANL Conduct of Engineering procedures; and DOE Orders and Standards related to nuclear facility design, construction, and operations
