What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ultrafast Spectroscopy Post Bachelors Student position at Los Alamos National Laboratory?
What You Will Do
The Physical and Chemical Spectroscopy Group (C-PCS) is seeking an outstanding post-bachelors student candidate to join our experimental efforts in ultrafast spectroscopy of molecular systems. The prospective candidate will primarily be involved in building and running time-resolved measurements on molecular systems and plotting, interpreting and modelling the data. The project will involve the use of both custom and benchtop instruments.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
An experimental background in at least one of these areas: Ultrafast laser systems, laser based or time-resolved spectroscopy, density functional theory calculations of spectra of molecules, or experience with benchtop instruments such as x-ray fluorescence, UV-Vis and Raman spectroscopy.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of titanium-sapphire ultrafast laser systems, nonlinear optics (e.g., second or high harmonic generation), Labview, Python programming, molecular spectroscopy, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work in a diverse team environment.
Education:
A B.S. degree in optics, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, or a related field. This is expected to be a 6-month position with the possibility of an extension to a maximum of 2 years.
