The Fairplex Learning and Development Center (FLDC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education and empowering high school students with trade tech certification career programs. Located at the historic Fairplex in Pomona, California, we are committed to fostering the growth and development of young minds in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The Director of Non-Profit Accounting plays a crucial role in the financial management of the Fairplex Learning and Development Center (FLDC). Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position oversees all financial aspects of our non-profit education organization. The Director of Non-Profit Accounting ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and contributes to the overall sustainability of our mission.
Work in close collaboration with Fairplex Controller and accounting staff for processing transactions and to maintain an overall cohesive organization.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management:
• Manage all financial activities, including budgeting, financial planning, and analysis.
• Oversee the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance with non-profit financial regulations.
• Is responsible for monitoring cash flow and long/short- term forecasting.
2. Financial Reporting:
• Prepare and present financial reports to the Chief Financial Officer, Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and funding organizations.
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
3. Budget Management:
• Develop and maintain the organization's budget, in collaboration with department heads.
• Monitor budget vs. actual performance and provide recommendations for adjustments.
4. Grants and Funding:
• Assist in grant applications and reporting to secure funding for child development and trade tech programs.
• Ensure compliance with grant requirements and financial reporting.
• Prepare Quarterly State reports for State Funding
5. Audit and Compliance:
• Coordinate annual audits with external auditors and ensure compliance with all regulatory and tax obligations.
• Implement and maintain internal controls and financial policies.
6. Financial Strategy:
• Contribute to the development of financial strategies and goals to support the organization's mission and long-term sustainability.
7. Team Leadership:
• Supervise and provide leadership to the accounting and finance team.
• Foster a collaborative and professional work environment.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree or CPA is preferred.
• Proven experience in non-profit financial management, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior financial role.
• Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting and compliance standards.
• Experience with the California Preschool Accounting Reporting Information system (CPARIS)
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers and other employees of the organization.
• Experience with child enrollment reporting requirements tied to state funding.
• Excellent financial analysis and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
