Tram Operator/Conductor

Description

Daily operation of tram following proper and safe procedures. Providing superior customer service to guests.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Handle daily operation of tram service
• Follow proper maintenance and safety procedures at all times
• Learn and announce (via intercom) passenger safety & Fair Event Information
• Assist guests with strollers and wheel chairs
• Provide outstanding customer service at all times
• During the L.A. County Fair, maintain updated and thorough knowledge of all aspects of the Fair in order to answer customer questions and promote Fair programs
• Report any unsafe condition immediately
• Work cooperatively with other team members
• Abide by all Fairplex policies, procedures, and operational directives
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Also opportunities for drivers with Class 'B" licenses w/passenger enhancement

Qualifications

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

• Must have excellent verbal communication skills and an outgoing personality
• Must be able to deal professionally and effectively with all types of people
• Must be able to perform informational/safety announcements for guests
• Must be able to handle vehicles and constant repetition of driving them
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to handle occasional periods of stress
• Must have excellent driving skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have a valid Driver License and a clean driving record
• Must be able to move around the fairgrounds, and get in and out of the tram
• Must be able to see and hear well to ensure safe operation of the tram
• Must be able to stand and walk
• Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs.
• Must be able to communicate on the phone and 2-way radio
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain
