The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking qualified applicants with strong technical and customer service skills for the Broadband and Network Account Specialist position.
Under general direction, develops, maintains, and tracks accounts, contracts, and projects for LACOE support network services.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of principles, practices, and techniques for design and evaluation of large-scale LAN/WAN, WLAN, VOIP, Cloud based technology, and telecom systems
- Principals, practices, terminology, and trends of network planning, design, and engineering
- Various networking tools and equipment from platforms and vendors such as but not limited to Arista, Cisco, and security vendors
- Federal and state rules and regulations such as E-rate and California Tele-connect Fund
- Techniques of project management and coordination
- Marketing concepts of research, analysis, strategies, and evaluation
- Critical Thinking – Analytically and logically evaluating information, propositions, and claims
- Fact Finding – Obtaining facts and data pertaining to an issue or question
- Legal & Regulatory Navigation – Understanding, interpreting, and ensuring compliances with laws and regulations
- Professional & Technical Expertise – Applying technical subject matter to the job
- Action & Results Focus – Initiating tasks and focusing on accomplishment
- Attention to Detail – Focusing on the details of work content, work steps, and final work products
- Informing – Proactively obtaining and sharing information

- Cultural Proficiency – Modeling communications and interactions that respect and include all individuals and their languages, abilities, religions and cultures
Education: An associate’s degree or equivalent college units (60 semester or 90 quarter units) from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience: Two years of experience managing Telecommunication accounts, performing tasks such as billing, or two years of experience in troubleshooting, configuring, testing, and maintaining LAN/WAN, WLAN, or PBXs.
Equivalency Provision: A valid Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification in routers/switching, CompTIA Network certification, or CompTIA Security certification may substitute for one year of the required experience.
Additional Requirements: A valid California driver’s license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites is required. This classification requires traveling to various sites in the Los Angeles County for meetings and occasional traveling to conferences.
Hybrid remote schedules may be available. To ensure the health and safety of its staff, LACOE may require employees to provide evidence of full vaccination against COVID-19.
Selection Process
Candidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a Technical Project and Structured Interview.

Candidates who pass all exam parts are ranked according to overall exam score and placed on an eligibility (hiring) list. Vacant positions are filled from the top three ranks. Eligibility lasts for 12 months; however, additional recruitment may occur under a separate bulletin with additional candidates being merged onto the eligibility list.
